One Thing I Ate: Meowgical Strawberry Milk Tres Leches Cake π
For less-than-Meowgical times of life.
Hello and welcome back to One Thing I Ate! This week, we make the cake of your dairy dreams. Check out past posts here, and please follow my Instagram @fivethingsiate for photos of said cake.
If I may be honest with you, life has been less-than-Meowgical lately. I have been processing a lot of grief and stress on top of a work project that I sometimes think was invented just to test the limits of my heart rate. As an extreme overfunctioner (I think the last time I was Really Sad I applied to MIT?), you would probably never be able to tell by looking at me. However, I have been mysteriously dropping and breaking things left and right, accidentally taking the express instead of the local train, and, perhaps most Horrifyingly Of All, I keep waking up at 8AM totally alarm-free, no matter what time I go to bed. This last tidbit will mean nothing to you unless you are a Longtime Friend of the Soph, in which case, you are probably very concerned. I wish for nothing but an end to this Hell that is waking up at a decent hour, a curse upon my body and soul.
Meanwhile, I will admit that life is not totally devoid of magic; my performance art pursuits have been going really well, and also, I made this tres leches cake. Tres leches cake is meowgical to begin with, but this one uses heavy cream in addition to evaporated and sweetened condensed milk in the soaking syrup, which means itβs basically melted ice cream.Β Β
Note: This is not the pinkest cake because my freeze dried strawberries had gotten a little stale and thus less powdery. But yours should be prettier, so please send me a photo.
