Hello and welcome back to Five One Thing I Ate! This week, we spend our entire evening making tiramisu. I’m experimenting with a new paywall function, so if you’re not a paying subscriber, please sign up to access all recipes – or hold tight for next week’s adventures. Dive into this sumptuous mountain of cream.
This is a recipe for matcha tiramisu, but it’s really a recipe for self-soothing, in the only way I know how that really works*. I don’t mean eating food; which is a substance that is prone to abuse like any other. I mean cooking a really, really beautiful dessert, following the recipe from head-to-toe. Going to two different grocery stores to find mascarpone. Even using $30’s worth of matcha for dusting the top, because you are worth it.
A single, conscious act of proving that you can, for once, follow instructions all the way through, and you can buy ingredients that cost money, on yourself (and of course, to share with others, when you’re done).
*Aside from the forbidden trifecta of drugs, sex, and alcohol.
